THE NIGHTMARE Before Christmas is being offered as a seasonal treat by Keighley Film Club.

The club has arranged a screening of the modern classic at Keighley Picture House on Sunday (December 14) from 6pm.

Club spokesman Alan Watkinson said: “This is a story of a fantasy world of dark imagery written by Tim Burton but is equally balanced by upbeat music.

“Its effect was such that the film was an Academy Award nominee.”

“Whilst not being suitable for the young with a scary disposition, others may wish to check that their parents have a youthful and dark imagination to ensure they will be taken to see it.”

Mr Watkinson describes the movie as both offbeat and a magical marvel that pokes fun at kids’ favourite holidays by giving a perspective to the traditions.

The Nightmare before Christmas was directed by Henry Selnick and starred Danny Elfman, Chris Sarandon and Catherine O'Hara

Jack the King of Halloween Town stumbles across the idea of Christmas for the first time, and tries to encourage his resident bats, ghouls and goblins to adopt its ideas. But they are not so keen.

The film begins at 6pm at the Picture House, North Street. New and existing club members get a reduction at all Picture House screenings.
