A NEW production of Mozart’s effervescent comedy The Marriage Of Figaro will be a highlight of the new Opera North season.

The opera is one of several productions during the latest season at the Grand Theatre in Leeds between January 24 and February 28.

The Marriage Of Figaro, described as a sublime comedy, is one of opera's most tender, funny and heart-warming works.

In a separate double bill Christopher Alden revives his blisteringly intense production of La Vida Breve with French soprano Anne Sophie Duprels as Salud.

The opera is presented with a new production of Gianni Schicchi, starring the outstanding British baritone Christopher Purves in the title role.

Both shows are described as short operatic gems, promising an emotional rollercoaster ride of unparalleled intensity.

La Traviata continues after a successful run of Alessandro Talevi’s opulent and sensational Belle Époque production in autumn last year, with new cast members Anna Jeruc-Kopec as Violetta and Stephen Gadd as Germont.
