ALABAMA 3 are performing their ‘sweet country acid house’ music at King’s Hall, Ilkley, on March 19.

The band hail from Brixton rather than Alabama and there are more than three of them.

They’re probably best known for providing the theme tune to hit gangster series the Sopranos.

They proclaim themselves a rock, blues and country techno situationist crypto-Marxist-Leninist electro pop band.

A spokesman said the band had managed to be successful for nearly two decades without the need for TV shows like X Factor or Pop Idol.

He said: “We did it the old fashioned way – back in 1996 we threw a big old party and invited all our friends.

“Then we took a fistful of blotters and half a dozen disco biscuits and then made it up as we went along."

Since then the band has has been in and out of the charts, in and out of fashion, both skint and minted.

The spokesman added: “It makes no difference to us. Because we're never gonna stop. We gonna just keep on putting out records and putting on shows.”
