THE PRODUCTION team for this year’s Keighley Amateurs pantomime Cinderella brings together three people with a long-standing connection with the group.

Peter Whitley and Judith Chapman are the co-directors, Judith also acting as choreographer, while John Sandland is the musical director.

Peter took on the lead comic role in the Amateurs’ panto in 2000, continuing for more than a decade as the show’s ‘idiot’ while also playing lead roles in musicals.

For the past few years he has been a co-director, and this year for the first time he has been joined by Judith.

Judith, who made her Keighley debut at the age of nine in Puss In Boots, has choreographed a number of Keighley Amateurs shows in recent years.

Judith has strong family connections with the Amateurs: her parents Pam and Stuart Farrington have been involved for 50 years, her daughter Alice is playing Dandini, older daughter Sarah has helped with choreography, and husband Steve is building props.

John Sandland, a music teacher by day, made his performing debut with the Amateurs in 1961, as one of the children in South Pacific.

He has since worked with a range of Yorkshire theatre groups, including Keighley Amateurs, and he has been a permanent fixture in Keighley as musical director for the past few years.

Cinderella runs from Saturday until January 31, including weekend matinees. Visit keighleyamateurs.com or call 08456 252550 to book tickets.
