ISLANDS In The Stream is a new show celebrating country music royalty Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers.
The show, which promises a deluge of million-selling hits, is presented at the Theatre Royal, Wakefield, on March 21.
The show includes songs like Jolene, Ruby, 9 To 5, Lucille, Here You Come Again, The Gambler, Coward Of The County, Love Is Like A Butterfly and Lady.
Producer Michael Taylor said theatregoers would enjoy the awesome vocals and gentle humour of Dolly and Kenny’s legendary live shows.
He said: “Bring-the-house-down performances, a superb score and supreme musicianship tell the story of the simple Smoky Mountains farm girl’s rise to country music’s biggest superstar.”
Dolly Parton is played by Mandy Winters, voted Entertainer Of The Year and Female Vocalist Of The Year at the celebrated Nebraska Country Music Festival.
Monday, a self-confessed Dolly Parton fanatic, is the son of “yodelling cowboy” Ronnie Winters, who had several hits in the 1950s and 1960s.
The part of Kenny Rogers is played by John Warwick, a West End performer and operatic tenor.
