A DENHOLME teenager has gone behind-the-scenes of a production of Roald Dahl’s James And The Giant Peach.

Harris Roberts, 15, who is visually-impaired, met the cast of the professional production at the West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds.

He was also invited to wear some of the costumes and touch some of the props used in the play.

Harris was among a 170-strong party of blind and partially sighted youngsters and their families.

The trip was organised by Action for Blind People and LTT Vending, which provided goody bags for the children.

Action for Blind People organises activities and events for children and young people with sight loss. The youngsters are given opportunities to take part in Actionnaires clubs and social activities, and friends and families are encouraged to get involved.

Harris said: “I was really excited about seeing the play. It was great.”

James Carey, from Action for Blind People, said: “This backstage tour will stay in their memories for a long time.

“Action for Blind People is committed to helping young people with sight loss develop and achieve their potential through social opportunities and new experiences.
