DVD: Broadchurch Series 2

It is Series 2 and the residents of Broadchurch are still reeling during the aftermath of Danny Latimer's murder as Joe Miller stands trial.

We see the town trying to re-forge relationships which crumbled at the end of the last series while more secrets are revealed. As a large part of the series takes place in court, we see two new characters, barristers Jocelyn Knight and Sharon Bishop who obviously have a history which makes the court room battle just a little more personal.

David Tennant and Olivia Coleman resume the roles of DI Alec Hardy and DS Ellie Miller who have now formed quite a close friendship and throughout the trial go off on a tangent to investigate the Sandbrook murders which had brought DI Hardy to Broadchurch in the first place.

With lots of big names joining the cast the acting was certainly fantastic, however I did feel that the two intertwining story lines were often a little disjointed and it would have flowed better if they had focused the story solely on the Sandbrook murders.

Saying that I was still hooked and looked forward to my weekly instalment.

Definitely worth watching, particularly the complicated character relationships as everyone seems to have a secret or a grudge somewhere.
