YORKSHIRE folk singer Kate Rusby will appear at the City Varieties Music Hall on April 26.

The popular performer will be at the Leeds venue to perform much-loved classics from her back catalogue.

Kate’s repertoire stretches back over two decades of music-making, and the old songs will be punctuated by new material from her latest album Ghost, released last summer.

Kate will as usual be joined on stage by the cream of British folk musicians who form her band.

The City Varieties will host an appearance by musician and songwriter Jimmy Webb with his latest show An Evening Of Songs And Stories.

Jimmy has influenced generations of musicians worldwide from Billy Joel to John Mayer, from Keith Urban to Rumer.

He has topped the country, disco and pop music charts with a list of artists astounding in its diversity and he remains a trailblazer among songwriters 50 years after his first hit.

A spokesman said: “Whatever kind of music you like, the chances are there’s a Jimmy Webb song on your personal playlist.

“Webb now brings his multi-platinum playlist on the road in an intimate evening of songs and stories.

“He will looks back on his days as the son of an evangelical minister in Oklahoma City and describes how he navigated fame and fortune.”

Leading 60s pop group The Manfreds will play the City Varieties on May 14, playing their pop hits which fused R&B with an undercurrent of jazz.

The Manfreds, with original frontman Paul Jones, will perform their hits along with jazz and blues songs.
