KEIGHLEY band Foxes Faux have announced a host of gigs for the spring and summer.

The folk-rockers are promoting their debut album Fox Tales which was released in February.

The gigs kick-off in Wakefield on Sunday and continue in Keighley and Sutton, and around east Lancashire and West Yorkshire.

Kurt Wood, one of the members, said: “We have a busy year ahead of us with single releases, gigs and appearances at festivals booked up to the end of the year.”

Foxes Faux describe themselves as an English six-piece folk-rock band with a punk heart.

Formed in 2009, they boast an arsenal of portable acoustic instruments including mandolin, bouzouki, acoustic guitars, violin and banjo.

Since self-releasing their self titled debut EP in 2012, Foxes Faux have added a rock rhythm section and toured the UK.

They created the 13-track album Fox Tales with a ‘do it yourself’ work ethic, the band's musicians carrying out recording, production and art work.

The album’s production, promotion and release was financed by money the band has earned from a relentless gigging schedule.

Kurt said the album fused folk rock with gypsy and punk overtones.

He added: “The diverse sound was shaped by the members’ time in a mixture of melodic and more abrasive bands as well as taking influence from The Beatles, Gogol Bordello, The Coral, The Byrds, Supergrass, Johnny Cash and Blur amongst others.”

Foxes Faux can be seen at the Punk And Ale Festival on Sunday at leading Wakefield venue The Hop.

They will be at the Wharf Chambers, Leeds, on April 6, the Boltmakers Arms, East Parade, Keighley, April 8, and the Mascot Gold Cup in Wetherby on April 26.

They will perform at an outdoor festival at the Bay Horse, Sutton, on May 3 at 5pm, an all-day local band special at the Exchange Arts Centre, Keighley, on May 24, and the Airedale Heifer beer festival in Sandbeds on June 26.
