A KEIGHLEY venue is hosting a competition to choose bands to perform at the prestigious Bingley Music Live festival.

More than 20 acts are playing during four heats at the Exchange Arts Centre in Russell Street throughout April and May.

The Emerging Talent contest is being hosted by Keighley Musicians Centre, which has a music shop and teaching centre in the same building.

Eight bands from the heats will be chosen to complete in the May 22 final, with three being chosen to perform during the festival at Bingley’s Myrtle Park from September 4 to 6.

The second heat will be on Wednesday (April 29) with Pent Ire, The Demimondaines, The Incredible Magpie Band, The Loose Cut, Masses and Concetines.

Competing on May 5 will be Coaves, Sleepy Jake Segrave, Secret Society, White Orchid and This City Limits.

Competing on May 13 will be Nervous ‘Orse, Suburban Symphony, Thirty Hearts, Stand Alone, City of Lights and Fighting Caravans.
