TEENAGE Haworth singer Emily Sargent will perform alongside folk stars at a festival next month.

Em, a regular performer at Haworth’s Groovy Happening, has been booked for Holmfirth Festival Of Folk

Emily, who plays acoustic originals and covers, played her first gig at the age of 14 and went on to perform at the Greenbelt Festival and support Edwina Hayes and Sarah McQuaid.

Also on the Holmfirth bill are Eddi Reader, who had an 80s number one with Perfect, the Hackney Colliery Band, and the Sam Kelly Trio.

Renowned singer-songwriter Steve Tilston, who lived in Keighley for many years, will perform with fellow folk star Jez Lowe.

Also on the programme are Plumhall, an acoustic duo who have performed several well-received gigs in the Keighley and Haworth area.

The Hackney Colliery Band are described as a unique East End take on the traditional brass band, who promise to blow the roof off any room.

Eddi Reader was brought into the limelight with the band Fairground Attraction and their single Perfect and chart-topping album First Of A Million Kisses.

Holmfirth Festival Of Folk is at Holmfirth Picturedrome on May 8 and 9. Visit holmfirthfestivaloffolk.co.uk for further information.
