SILSDEN band The Escapades have been signed to Voltage Records following their success in the Soundwaves competition.

The band are due to play the ‘Sound’ night at the Delius Arts and Cultural Centre in Bradford on May 16.

They are currently recording their debut album for Voltage.

In January The Escapades performed along with 11 other Soundwaves finalists at the Leeds O2 Academy in front of a crowd of more than 1,200 people.

They played their songs, Old Wet Lip, This Girl and For All Intents, returning for a prizewinners’ encore of Honky Tonk Feeling and Banana Shoes.

Each band had been requested to sell 60 tickets as part of the terms and conditions of taking part in the competition, but The Escapades more than doubled that figure.

This helped them achieve their final score, because 25 per cent of the score came from ticket sales, the rest coming from the votes of judges and fans.

After their award-winning The Escapades thanked everyone involved with Silsden AFC which let them rehearse at Silsden Sports Club.

The Soundwaves 2015 competition, billed as the North’s biggest music competition, attracted more than 1,000 entries across three cities, including 300 for the Leeds area.
