CAPTURING the crown of comedy for the Welsh is Tudur Owen as he performs in Keighley tonight.

Tudur headlines the latest monthly comedy night at the Cafe Choux Choux at Keighley railway station.

Tudur has been hailed as the “Welsh wizard of mirth” by critics and is regarded as a raconteur of some renown.

Choux Choux spokesman Chris Brooker said: “Tudur is already well-known to the folk of his home and native land for his work for the BBC on both radio and television.

“One of the most sought after acts on the circuit, Tudur will leave everyone helpless with laughter and might even teach us a few key phrases in Welsh along the way. Rude ones hopefully.”

Supporting Tudur at the Cafe Choux Choux , on Station Bridge, will be fellow stand-up comic Helen Keeler.

Chris said: “Helen will open proceedings and, in doing so, will bring more than a touch of vintage glamour alongside her considerable comedic firepower.

“A fantastic writer with a delightfully dark, dry sense of humour, Helen has carved out a fine reputation for herself in the past few years on the circuit.

“She is truly an act that you need to see before she gets too famous.”

The night will also feature short sets from upcoming acts Lewis Dunn and Dean Mavros, with Chris as usual acting as resident MC.

Dean Mavros is a revolutionary, comedian and factory worker, whose subject that includes politics, race and religion, but he hopes eventually to be famous enough to joke about the London Underground and toasters.

Lewis Dunn is a 21-year-old philosophy and politics student who loves to write and perform comedy.

Tickets are available from Cafe Choux Choux, the Cricketers' Arms in Coney Lane, or by visiting eventbrite.co.uk. The show will begin at 8.30pm.
