KEIGHLEY rock band As Sirens Fall is among groups warming up the crowd for this year’s Fake Festival in Halifax.

As Sirens Fall is alternative rock band made up of former members of local bands You Had Me At Hello, Revolt and Nine Volt Heart.

The quintet are in a support line-up that also includes Mark Stringer, Darren Ellis, Delicious Biscuits and Bad Asteroids.

The five acts were chosen from hundreds of applicants to build up the atmosphere for music lovers in the marquee at Manor Heath Park on July 11.

The top-of-the-bill bands are three tribute acts performing the hits of Kasabian, The Prodigy and Kings of Leon.

Singer-songwriter Mark Stringer will open the Halifax Fake Festival.

A spokesman said: “Mark has always had music in his blood, from serenading friends as a child to entertaining the crowds in pubs.

“Mark has grown up on music from the likes of The Beatles, Bob Dylan and Oasis, and his charm and musical talent is establishing him as a firm crowd pleaser."

Darren Ellis will perform alongside his “enchanting” band, The Extravaganza, presenting music from folk and and reggae to pop and rock.

Delicious Biscuits are a three-piece band from Halifax, who promised to entertain festival-goers with a full spectrum of covers from all genres in a laid-back style.

Bad Asteroids spend their time orbiting around West Yorkshire, and will be landing in Halifax to blast out funky tunes and grooves with soulful vocals.

Danni Saxton, license holder for Halifax Fake Festival, said: “We are really lucky to have such talented musical artists in the region, and we were not short of applicants this year.”
