BLUES to the power of 10 is being hosted by a popular Keighley music club on July 10.

Keighley Blues Club will finish its 10th anniversary season with a performance by Mud Morganfield.

The concert will see Mud, son of world-famous bluesman Muddy Waters, celebrating the 100th anniversary of his father’s birth.

A club spokesman said: “This son and proud heir of the King of Chicago blues looks and sounds strikingly like his old man.

“With a big, powerful voice allied to his commanding stage presence it’s as if the great Muddy was still with us right there on stage through his son.

“In fact his most recent album For Pops – A Tribute To Muddy Waters was adjudged to be Best Traditional Album at the 2015 Blues Music Awards.”

Mud is touring the UK to tour with the cream of the UK's blues talent, West Weston on blues harp, Ronni Boysen on guitar, Ian Jennings on double bass, Mike on Hellierdrums and Eric Ranzoni on keyboards.

Mud's commanding voice is said to summon up the spirit in a way that is all but lost in today's contemporary blues world.

He and his powerful band aim to make people remember what it was that made them fall in love with the blues in the first place.

Fans can can expect to hear Mannish Boy, I’ve Got My Mojo Working, Baby Please Don’t Go, Hoochie Coochie Man and many more classics.

Mud said: “I'm Mud Morganfield but when I'm up on stage I always feel ‘Pops’ is there with me and it means so much that I can get on stage and keep his music alive around the world."

The guests at the concert will be seasoned blues/jazz musicians Roger Higgins and Gary Boyle.

Due to the expected high demand for tickets, Keighley Blues Club is moving from its normal venue at the Keighley Cougars Hall of Fame.

Mud’s concert is instead being performed at the larger Pennington’s Octagon Live on Bradford Road, Sandbeds.
