KEIGHLEY arts group Small World is searching for young local musicians for its latest event.

The Small World Music Project will present a Festival of Youth Music at Lund Park, off Oakworth Road, on July 18.

The free family day will feature performances solely from young musicians and is intended as a celebration of talent and musical achievement within the area.

Claire Silvester, the project director, said the project worked with a weekly core group of around 40 young people providing free-access training and opportunities in music.

She said: “The group performs termly at the Small World premises in Russell Street, and would now like to collaborate with other local young musicians in creating a showcase performance for a wider audience.

“We would like to offer local young musicians aged 21 or under the opportunity to perform at the festival to share their music, and be part of a positive community cohesion event.”

The Small World Music Project is funded by Youth Music and the Gannett Foundation, whose parent company publishes the Keighley News.
