AGATHA Christie’s timeless whodunit The Mousetrap returns to the Alhambra Theatre for a week this month.

The classic play, the world’s longest-running stage production in London, will be at the Bradford theatre from July 27 to August 1.

Leeds-born actor William Ilkley, who has appeared in countless films and on TV, plays Major Metcalfe in the beloved murder mystery.

The Mousetrap begins at a country house where a group of people find themselves cut off by the snow.

They discover to their horror that there is a murderer in their midst.

One by one the suspicious characters reveal their sordid pasts until the last nerve-shredding moment when the identity and the motive are finally revealed.

The Mousetrap originally opened in 1952 in London starring Richard Attenborough and his wife Sheila Sim.

In 1958 The Mousetrap gained the ‘world’s longest-running stage production’ accolade and never gave it up, embarking on its first-ever UK tour to celebrate the 60th anniversary.

The classic drama was seen by more than 600,000 people across the UK, breaking box office records at many venues.

Mousetrap Productions also licensed 60 productions of The Mousetrap in celebration of its 60th year.

Since then the player has been seen on every continent, with professional productions in Australia, China, Korea, Turkey, South Africa, Russia, Czech Republic, Hungary, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Poland, Spain, Scandinavia, Venezuela, and across the United States and Canada.

The Mousetrap continues its London run, after more than 25,000 performances, at St Martin’s Theatre.
