SKIPTON Fake Festival will count a Keighley-based U2 tribute band among its headline artists.

The annual festival will bring New2 to the stage in Airedale Park alongside tributes to Foo Fighters and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

They’ll be creating the big music festival atmosphere on August 15, with a host of local bands warming up the audience.

Fake Festivals is returning to Skipton, as part of a national tour following a sell-out run of events in summer last year.

Iain Angus, license holder for Skipton Fake Festival, said the three tribute bands would bring the festival spirit with uncanny likeness and voices.

He said: “Skipton is always a great festival, and is increasing in popularity year-on-year as word is spreading about the fun to be had at a Fake Festival.

“Early bird sales are ahead of last year’s and we’re incredibly excited about our show in 2015.

“We’ve been working tirelessly all year to scout and confirm five super talented local bands to support our debuting tributes and we’re pretty sure you’ll all be blown away with the quality of music we’ll be showcasing.

“We always look at trying to offer more to our loyal followers, and again this year when you buy your Skipton Fake Festival ticket, it will give you free entry and camping to our three day Big Fake Festival.”

Yorkshire is playing host to at least five Fake Festivals this summer, with dates confirmed in in Otley, Roundhay, Harrogate and Ossett, in addition to the recent Halifax Fake Festival.

Iain said: “We had a fantastic summer in 2014, and we’re genuinely overwhelmed at how popular the events have become here in Yorkshire.

“The whole essence of a Fake Festival is to bring an incredible festival vibe to the heart of thriving communities while at the same time supporting other local businesses and traders.

"Our plan is to make the experience accessible to everyone in North Yorkshire by having annual festivals in safe and easy to get to areas.”
