LOCAL duo Waiting For Wednesday are among the influences of teenage Steeton singer-songwriter Ali Tolley.

The group are in good company, for Ali also draws on Demi Lovato, Birdy, Lauren Aquilina and Ed Sheeran for inspiration.

Ali, 17, who accompanies herself with acoustic guitar, will launch her new single Explosion at Leeds College of Music’s recital room on Wednesday, February 17.

Ali’s spokesman Mat Raw said she used a contemporary approach to acoustic music and was enjoying developing her songwriting skills further.

He said: “She uses songwriting to express herself and overcome her personal struggles with a view to also inspire others and unite people through music along the way.

“She began singing before she had learned to talk properly and has always found music therapeutic.

“Ali hopes that one day she will be able to raise money for charities and help others through difficult times with her music."

The launch concert begins at 7pm, and performers also include Oliver Pinder and Vanessa Maria. Tickets cost £5 from Leeds College of Music. Visit alitolley.co.uk for further information.
