MEMORIES will come flooding back for members of Bingley Jazz Club when jazz musician Dennis Armstrong heads up from Bristol.

He will visit the club to lead his Barbarians Band on Thursday, May 5 at 8pm.

The cornet player was prominent in the Bingley jazz scene from the early 1950s until he moved to Bristol in the mid-1990s.

He made his name by fronting the Yorkshire Post Jazz Band and he later led the Great Northern and King Oliver Tribute Bands.

Several of the musicians playing at Bingley were members of the Yorkshire Post Band and the evening will be a trip down memory lane for them.

Malcolm Hogarth (piano) and his wife Isabel Toner (bass) will travel from Cheshire, Eric Brierley (trombone) is from the Manchester jazz scene, while Frank Brooker (clarinet and saxophone) is a favourite with Bingley and jazz audiences across West Yorkshire.

John Richardson (banjo) and Peter Cridland (drums) are locally based.

Bingley Jazz Club meets at the York Street Sports and Social Club every Thursday. Admission is free.
