THE ACCLAIMED play about the Bradford City fire disaster, entitled The 56, is returning to the city.

The drama was adapted solely from more than 60 real-life testimonies and is described as a bold and pertinent piece of documentary theatre.

The show pays homage to the supporters who lost their lives in one of the darkest days in British footballing history, on May 11 1985.

On the 31st anniversary of the disaster, The 56 examines the solidarity, strength and community in the face of overwhelming tragedy.

The 56 will be performed at the Alhambra Theatre’s Studio. Proceeds will be donated to the University of Bradford Burns and Plastic Surgery Unit.

The 56 is performed by LUNG, a Yorkshire based verbatim theatre company formed to twin theatre and activism, whilst platforming untold stories of national significance.

The company recently provided workshops for more than 3,000 children in Sheffield, while the outreach team is working with schools and young theatres across Bradford.

LUNG are winners of the Spotlight Award for Most Promising Actress, the Director’s Guild Award for Best Newcomer and the Judges Award for Most Promising Ensemble (NSDF).
