UKULELES and guitars replaced train whistles as Museums At Night returned to Keighley.

The Museum of Rail Travel at Ingrow station again hosted music nights at its contribution to the national event.

The audience sat alongside historic railway carriages and memorabilia as various local performers showed off their talents.

Visitors were also given a rare after-hours chance to look around the museum, which is run by the Vintage Carriages Trust.

Jim Pickles, one of the organisers, said: “The three evenings provided some excellent musical entertainment to a rather select audience, the sudden cold snap doing nothing to encourage attendance.

“Sarah Widdup performed songs, on the Thursday, ranging from ballads through to rock, whilst on the Friday the Haworth Ukulele Group provided popular songs of the 60s and 70s.

“On the Saturday, the songs varied from Music Hall favourites to the drolleries of the late Jake Thackray.”

The Brontë Parsonage Museum also took part in Museums At Night, staying open late for stories with a wartime theme to tie in with the Haworth 1940s Weekend.
