KEIGHLEY and Silsden libraries are encouraging families to dive into a good book this summer.

They are hosting activities for National Bookstart Week, which runs from June 6 to noon on the theme of Under The Sea.

Children who attend any of the events will receive a copy of the picture book A Hole in the Bottom of the Sea by Jessica Law and illustrated by Jill McDonald.

Keighley library hosts fishy stories and crafts on Wednesday, June 8 and the seaside rhymes on Saturday, June 11, both at 11am.

Silsden offers Octonauts, Monster Map and crafts on Tuesday, June 7 at 11am.

Other libraries across Bradford district will hold stories, craft and lego sessions throughout the week.

Cllr Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council's Executive Member for Environment, Sport and Culture, said: "Reading and developing a love of books is so important for our young children and young people and this is a great way to introduce books to children and their families in a fun way.

“It is also an opportunity for people to discover more about what their local library has to offer."
