THE DAY of reckoning is looming for bands battling in Keighley for a place on one of the two Bingley Music Live stages.

The final of the annual Emerging Talent contest will be held on Friday, May 27 at the Exchange Arts Centre in Russell Street, Keighley.

The eight finalists are Keighley band As Sirens Fall, Your Illuminations, Vanessa Maria, Voodoo Bats, Fling, Pusher, local outfit Sleepy Jake And The Duvets, and Neon Dolls Admission is free and the first band on stage is at 7pm.

The competition, hosted by the The Exchange in partnership with Bradford Council, comprised of 24 acts over four heats.

These have been whittled down to eight acts - four heat winners and four other acts selected from over the four heats. These eight will be battling for four slots at the Council-run festival in Myrtle Park on 2-4 September. Two of the bands will get to play on the Main Stage over the weekend and two will appear on the Discovery Stage.

All the heats have been judged by representatives of Bingley Music Live who will also give the final verdict on Friday.

Andrew Wood, Bradford Council's Leisure Events Manager, said: "The standard of bands over the heats has been brilliant which has made it difficult to select just eight bands for the final.

“I’d like to thank all the bands that entered this year’s competition and The Exchange for pulling it all together. The final is going to be a great night of music performed by some exceptional local talent.

“Hopefully this contest will give the winning acts some decent exposure and a stepping stone to bigger things.”

Weekend tickets for the three day festival are available on-line via Ticketline on the website. A tiered ticket system is in place this year, which means the sooner people buy tickets, the cheaper the price.

And for those who prefer to spread the cost there is a payment plan where the ticket price can be paid in instalments.

Weekend tickets are also available from other outlets and day tickets will be released closer to the festival, subject to availability. For further details see www.bingleymusiclive.co01 the sacking the design of undertaking its members of staff on cars
