A SINGING charity that has just launched sessions in Silsden has been given a £1,000 boost by Skipton Building Society’s Charitable Foundation.

The Golden-Oldies started life in 2008 with four daytime fun sing-along sessions for older, vulnerable people living at sheltered housing community rooms.

More than 10,000 sessions have since taken place, and there are now 35 dedicated session leaders across England and Wales.

The first session in Bradford district started last month at Silsden Methodist Church and runs on the first Thursday of each month at 2pm.

Goldies trustees chairman, Mike Richardson, said: “We are very grateful for the £1,000 donation from Skipton’s Charitable Foundation.

"We are a very small charity and still only have one full-time member of staff."
