HAWORTH Festival opened last weekend to a good response from local people.

The annual event, which is organised by volunteers from the village, will continue throughout the next four days.

John Sargent, one of the organisers, said: “It’s all going very well so far. There have been good attendances.

“The varied programme carries on this week with Patrick Monahan at the Old School Room on Thursday night, Haworth Cinema showing Woodstock on Friday and Tony Wright at Cobbles and Clay on Saturday night.

Also during Saturday afternoon Rubik will be playing in Cobbles and Clay. Other events include Box of Tricks at the Black Bull on Friday night which is also part of the '60s weekend and Haworth Ukulele Group have their 4th annual Haworth Ukulele Group Extravaganza on Saturday at the School Rooms again.

The first weekend featured a special presentation by the ‘Captain of the Lost Waves’ at the Pied Piper music shop in Mytholmes.

The Cobbles and Clay cafe in Main Street, played host to many performers during the return of its renowned open mic night.

Performers from Kala Sangam, the Bradford-based South Asian arts organisation, performed a Brontë-inspired show entitled Seasons Of Life at the Cobbles and Clay.

There was a Fun Drum outside Haworth Old Hall as part of Haworth Festival with everyone invited to join in either on drums or didgeridoos.

Haworth Film Club will show Woodstock on Friday at 7.30pm, as part of both Haworth Festival and Haworth 1960s Weekend. Tickets cost £4 for adults and £2 for students.

There will be an intimate gig by Terrorvision singer Tony Wright with Milly Evans at the Cobbles and Clay on Saturday.
