SKIPTON Players are staging the romantic comedy Nobody’s Perfect this week.

Written by Simon Williams and directed by Keighley man Phil Smith, the show runs each night until Saturday, July 30 at Skipton Little Theatre.

The story revolves around Love Is All Around, a feminist publishing house where Harriet Copeland is running a competition to find new romantic fiction. Their motto is For Women By Women.

Leonard Loftus is trying to get his books published, so he sends a manuscript based on his experience as a single parent, and uses the female pseudonym Myrtle Banbury.

Then Myrtle wins, and Harriet wants to meet her – but can Leonard collect his money without anyone finding out that Myrtle doesn't exist?

Meanwhile, can Leonard’s daughter Dee Dee find her timid dad a date, and can his father Gus avoid being sent back to the old folks’ home?

The cast includes Phil Smith, a regular performer with Skipton Players, Keighley Amateurs and Sutton’s Green Hut Theatre Company.

Making her Skipton debut is fellow Green Hut actor Francesca Tetley, who has appeared in several pantos and the musical When The Lights Go On Again, and the cast is completed by veteran Steeton actor Richard Wilkinson and Keighley Amateurs actress Stephanie Laycock.

The play begins at 7.30pm. Tickets can be booked online@skiptonlittletheatre.org.uk or by calling 07527 151176.
