THE BIG Jam Bash will this year be presented in Keighley as a Later With Jools Holland-style event.

Local bands Universe 25, Sour Mandy, Alley Gator and The Escapades will perform at Jam On Top on September 24 event from 7.30pm to 11pm.

Jam On Top have for several years presented the seasonal night of live bands at their Dalton Lane music studio.

This year they have teamed up with Keighley Big Local, a lottery-funded regeneration scheme, to become part of its new Unique Keighley festival.

Jam On Top spokesman Brian Leach said: "Each of the using studios will have a band and the audience will see each performance individually until the last band finishes."

Unique Keighley, the brainchild of local resident Helen Parsons, will run over several years and aims to celebrate everything unique about the town and particularly its industrial heritage.

Helen said: “Big Local has provided the opportunity to celebrate that within the Worth Valley we have ancient woodland, peregrine falcons, a wild trout river, skilled engineering works and craft breweries.

“These all mingle with a Fab Lab, a Star Centre, a heritage railway, listed buildings, international businesses, lots of talented local people plus many other resources.

“That's an awful lot for a very small area, and something I think gets overlooked when you see it every day. Big Local is the opportunity to highlight what a creative and inspiring place this can be.

“It's been fantastic to have the support of Jam on Top for this first event. I would like to incorporate many more businesses and other organisations year by year so that Unique Keighley grows and really showcase what this area has to offer.”

Big Local coordinator Shaun O'Hare said "As well as being a fun celebration, a well-organised event such as the Big Local Big Jam Bash can generate economic and social benefits for all communities in Keighley."

Admission to the Big Jam Bash is £2 on the door, with proceeds going to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.
