BIG LOCAL are banging the drum about their latest project.

They are inviting everyone to make noise about their cut-price drumming sessions during the half-term holidays.

Adults and children living between Riddlesden and Ingrow could each have a 30-minute session at Keighley’s Jam on Top music studios.

Funding comes from the £1 million pot of Big Lottery Fund money awarded to the ‘Keighley Valley’ area of Keighley.

Residents living in neighbourhoods such as Stockbridge, Parkwood, Worth Village and Woodhouse, are leading the 10-year Keighley Big Local regeneration programme.

The volunteer partnership decided to fund drumming sessions at the Jam on Top Studios, off Dalton Lane, with participants paying £1 each for their session.

Big Local coordinator Shaun O’Hare said this was a “great little opportunity" for residents within the Big Local area to try something a little different.

He said: “This is another great example of the opportunity Big Local can bring. Facilities such as Jam on Top make an important contribution to the make-up of communities and address issues of isolation.

“We can help make the most of them by encouraging hobbies like this and we might just find the next Keith Moon or Sheila E here in Keighley.”

Jam on Top, on the top floor of an old mill, provides rehearsal space for many local bands, and is also used by better-known live bands to practice for tours.

Jam on Top spokesman Brian Leach said: "The taster sessions are open to all ages and all abilities. You just need to live, work, volunteer or play in the Keighley Big Local area.”
