EASTENDERS star Jessie Wallace will be in the cast when the musical Chicago returns to Leeds.

Jessie, who played Kat Slater, will share the stage with John Partridge and Hayley Tamaddon at the Grand Theatre from November 22 to 26.

Jessie and Hayley play notorious inmates of a women’s prison who enlist solicitor Billy Flynn’s expertise to get off the respective murder raps.

Jessie Wallace won several awards for playing Kat Slater in EastEnders, and she also appeared in TV drama Wild At Heart.

She was nominated for a BAFTA award for playing Pat Phoenix in The Road To Coronation Street, and she performed on stage in Rent Remixed, Fings Ain’t Wot They Used T’Be and Stepping Out.

John Partridge played Christian Clarke in EastEnders, but has performed for many years in musical theatre, with starring roles in Cats, Miss Saigon and A Chorus Line.

John was also a judge on BBC1’s Over the Rainbow, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s search to find a Dorothy for the musical The Wizard of Oz.

Hayley Tamaddon has just finished playing Andrea Beckett in Coronation Street, and for several years, played Del Dingle in Emmerdale.

In Chicago, which is based on real-life events back in the roaring 1920s, nightclub singer Roxie Hart shoots her lover.

Along with cell block rival, double-murderess Velma Kelly, Roxie fights to keep from death row with the help of smooth talking lawyer, Billy Flynn.

With six Tony, two Olivier, one Grammy, two Bafta and six Academy Awards, Chicago has been described as “the sharpest, slickest show on the block”.
