SANTA CLAUS is off to the movies during a special event at Glusburn Institute.

The community and arts centre will screen animated family movie Arthur Christmas on December at 6pm.

The PG-certificate film shows what happens when Santa’s clumsy son Arthur goes out on a mission to give a present he has misplaced to a young girl in less than two hours.

Before the film, from 5pm, Santa Claus himself will be in his grotto at the Institute to give out gifts for children.

Meanwhile adults will receive a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie.

This is a ticket only event, and people can book by visiting giac.org.uk or calling 01535 630223.

Tickets cost £6 for adults and £4 for children.

Lancashire folk-comedy group The Houghton Weavers will appear at Glusburn Institute on Saturday, December 3.

Ever since cutting their teeth in the local folk clubs of their native North West, the group have never wavered from their original motto of “Keep Folk Smiling”.

In their time together the group have performed thousands of concerts and recorded more than 30 albums.
