THE GOLDEN Fleece in Oakworth has started an open mic night on the second and last Tuesdays of each month.

The event, the brainchild of new landlords Sue and Darren Robinson, began on January 31 and is being hosted each time by acoustic duo Stage Is Set.

The Fleece, at the top of the village on Commercial Street, is also hosting the band Fling on Thursday, February 9 from 8.30pm.

Fling hail from Saltaire and are led by drummer Luke Fielding.

A spokesman said: “Lead vocalist Charles dominates and charms the stage with his charismatic presence, punctuated further by guitarist Jack and bassist Jake holding things on the edge of chaos with their pinpoint harmonies.

“Sometimes shocking; always unusual; often beautiful but never boring. Fling blaze trail with psychedelic sound which screams love and life with a hint of self-depreciation. Modern, unusual and very very fun.”

The Fleece gig sees the band start a UK tour, taking in nine dates throughout February and ending in London.

The band, who played Bingley Music Live last year, also play Bradford Underground on Friday on February 10, the Golden Lion in Todmorden on Saturday February 11, and the Milo in Leeds on February 17.
