STEETON Male Voice Choir will team up with Bingley women’s choir Opus 44 for a joint concert on Sunday.

The 2pm show will see both choirs returning to the Octagon club in Bradford Road, Sandbeds, where they have performed Christmas concerts.

Choir spokesman, David Barraclough, said the concert will offer a varied and entertaining programme.

He added: “The Octagon is a very informal, relaxed venue and offers the chance to hear two prestigious choirs and afterwards to ask members about life in a choir and the benefits of singing.

“Opus 44 is a prestigious choir that made memorable appearances in the quarter final stages of the renowned Sainsbury’s Choir of the Year competition in 1984 and 1994.

“In more recent years, they have appeared at the Mrs Sunderland Music Festival in Huddersfield and won the Choir Challenge six times.

“Opus 44 have also had a change of leadership and, after 12 years of success under the charge of Alison Pryce Jones, the baton is now firmly in the hand of Paula Sides.”

Steeton Male Voice Choir will perform at Cliffe Castle Museum at 2pm on March 26.
