SOL BERNSTEIN hits the Keighley Comedy Club at a gig also featuring Scouse funnyman Adam Staunton.

The Cafe Choux Choux as usual hosts the club, on Thursday, March 30, from 7.30pm, with a night beginning with two up-and-coming comics.

Sol, billed as an “instantly winning creation” by the Evening Standard, is said to have influenced Elvis Presley, Marcel Marceau and the Beatles.

He recently returned to smoky nightclubs performing to drunks after 23 years semi-retirement playing nursing homes.

The publicity states: “He’s worked with, and been friends with, Judy Garland, the Rat Pack, Jack Benny, George Burns, Tommy Cooper, Eric Morecambe and Eddie Large.

“He has performed all over the world at venues including the London Palladium, Caesar’s Palace and Scunthorpe Baths.

“His charisma, his style, his catchphrase ‘why don’t you put in a tie’, his chutzpah – put it all together and you get the magic that is Sol Bernstein.”

Adam Staunton is described as a confident and demanding stage presence who has performed alongside some of the biggest names in comedy, including John Bishop and Sarah Millican.

Tickets cost £7 from the Cafe Choux Choux at Keighley railway station, or the Cricketers Arms in Coney Lane, Keighley.
