THE summer season of walks across the district and beyond have been unveiled by Bradford Council’s Countryside Service.

Volunteer guides will lead both midweek and weekend walks, with many of them in the Keighley, Worth Valley and South Craven areas.

Trainspotting is the title of a 4.5-mile circular walk on Sunday, to tie in with the visit of the Flying Scotsman to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.

Meet Anthony Green at the entrance to Oxenhope railway station at 10.30am.

Malcolm Gardner will lead a Return to Otley’s Lost Tracks on Wednesday – a seven-mile circular walk along the lost rail link between Burley, Menston and Otley, with an extension to the original site of Otley station.

Meet Malcolm at Menston station at 10.45am.

Easter Parade is a five-mile circular walk on April 14 to visit the huge cross on Otley Chevin.

Meet Barbara Walker at 11am in Leathley Avenue, Menston (by the recreation ground), for a walk uphill to see splendid surprise views.

Kettlewell and Starbotton is a destination for a six-mile circular walk on April 16, with a steep start then a drop, then a leisurely walk back along the valley floor.

The annual Saltaire Heritage Walk will be held on April 23, taking a five-mile circular route to celebrate the World Heritage Site. Meet David Anderson and Colin Pitts at 11am next to Saltaire railway station for a moderate climb to view the village and hear some of its history.

Coming up in next few months are walks at Lothersdale, Eldwick, Ilkley Moor, Burnsall, Harden, Leeming, Cross Roads, Haworth, East Morton and Silsden.
