KEIGHLEY artist Peter Marsden is staging his latest solo exhibition at the Bingley Gallery until April 30.

The exhibition Peter’s Pick features an eclectic selection of work completed during the past few years, comprising local scenes along with landscapes and seascapes from Scotland and Northumberland.

Peter’s creative work owes much to his workplace experiences in foundries and to his travels.

His work is said to support strong dramatic elements, whether the power of the sea or storms or in the dust and heat of industry.

Sometimes he departs from realism and produces abstract work, which reveals as its inspiration the dynamic forces underpinning the natural world.

Gallery owner, Jane Fielder, said: “Peter’s paintings are always lively, fresh and honest and straight from the heart.

“Memories of his time working in the foundry, seascapes, Venice, places around Keighley and the Worth Valley, and monsters all feature.”

Peter is a founder member of the long-established Aire Valley Arts, a group of highly-committed visual artists working in a contemporary context.

Mr Marsden said: “Our mission is to make a dynamic contribution to the arts in our community and beyond.

“We stage events and art exhibitions, particularly in non-gallery spaces, organise workshops, offer expertise and liaise with community organisations, taking art to the heart of our area.

“We intend to attract like-minded people from all walks of life, including arts bodies and the business sector, and all those who want to make the Aire Valley a flourishing, healthy, whole community.”

Peter and fellow artist, Daniel Paulo, had the initial idea for an artistic focus in the Aire Valley back in 1995.
