BEN Blue Waters is hosting a second acoustic evening at the King’s Arms in Haworth.

The Keighley singer-songwriter has settled on May 26 for the 8pm gig.

Headliners will be the much-loved and respected Blues and Ragtime masters Gerry Cooper and Phil Snell.

Gerry plays guitar and harmonica, Phil plays guitar, fiddle and mandolin.

Ben said: “Between them, they cook up an intoxicating brew of intricate, joyful music.”

Two experienced musicians, who had known each other for quite a few years, Gerry and Phil got together just for fun to work as a duo. But after a well-received debut at the 2010 Otley Folk Festival, they decided to work together more seriously and have played many clubs, pubs and festivals. These included Otley Folk Club, Topic Folk Club Bradford, Dentdale Festival, Davefest, York Folk Weekend, Leeds Underground and a series of gigs at Verve Leeds and Music at The Castle in Bradford.

Both continue their solo careers and other band projects – Phil produced Gerry’s latest CD Follow The River in his Limbo Studios in Otley.

Also playing the gig in the King’s Arms, at the top of Main Street, is travelling troubadour and songwriter, Weyboune Chester Bingley.

Ben said: “Chester is a singer/guitarist and harmonica player from Morecambe. A versatile performer with 20 years’ experience, he is equally at home in more discerning folk clubs, banging out popular favourites to crowds of drunks, in five-star hotels or busking on the street.

“Although largely playing solo at the moment, he is also a part-time member of Cornwall-based ‘psychedelic pop terrorists’ The Various Assortments and folky outfits Derry Air and Freespirit.

“Chester also has a recording project – Mint Custard – at home in Lancashire with Preston DJ and producer Collin Conucci.”
