SHERIDAN Smith reprises her West End performance as Funny Girl comes to Bradford.

The hit musical will be at the Alhambra Theatre from Tuesday to June 10. The show enjoyed critically-acclaimed and record-breaking sold-out runs at the Menier Chocolate Factory and Savoy Theatre in London.

Funny Girl brought global fame to Barbra Streisand 50 years ago and boasts some of the most well-known songs in film and theatre history, including People and Don’t Rain On My Parade.

This musical, described as “iconic, legendary, laugh-out-loud” by the Times newspaper, tells the story of Fanny Brice, whose vocal talents and comedic ability see her rise from Brooklyn music hall singer to Broadway star.

The Times also said Sheridan Smith was hilarious, glorious and touching, with a performance that was “all-singing, all dancing, all-joking and, somehow, all-soul too”.

Smith’s theatre work also includes acclaimed productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Hedda Gabler, Flare Path, Legally Blonde and Into The Woods.

She is a familiar face from high-profile TV productions such as The Moorside, Blackwork, The C Word, Cilla and Mrs Biggs.

She has also been seen in Little Crackers, Jonathan Creek, Gavin & Stacey, Larkrise To Candleford, Love Soup, Two Pints Of Larger And A Packet Of Crisps and The Royle Family.

Director Michael Mayer’s West End credits include Spring Awakening (Lyric Hammersmith and Novello Theatre) and Thoroughly Modern Millie (Shaftesbury Theatre), and on Broadway he directed Hedwig And The Angry Inch, On A Clear Day You Can See Forever and American Idiot.
