KEIGHLEY fundraisers will be dressed to impress with their latest event in aid of teenager Scott Story.

Scott’s relatives are organising a drag queen evening to raise cash for specialist equipment to help with his life-limiting muscle-wasting disease.

Scott’s aunt Rachael Meeking is putting together the event at Central Hall, Alice Street, Keighley, on June 30. Miss Ora Leigh will headline the evening with a comedy act, and festivities will run from 7.30pm to 11.30pm, including a bar and raffle.

Organisers recently dropped the ticket price for the evening from £15 to £10.

South Craven School student Scott, 14, lives in Skipton and has the condition Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Funding is available to extend the family’s house to provide him with his own bedroom and bathroom, but there is no money available for the equipment he needs for everyday living.

Rachael said: “He is confined to a wheelchair, so bathroom adaptations and things such as hoists are needed to help him around the house. There is no cure for his condition, which is relentless and progressive, but he has a very positive attitude and is determined that he won’t be beaten.”

Tickets cost £10 from Rachael, partner John Whitaker, the Doll House in Church Street, and Central Hall itself. Raffle tickets cost £1 each from the same places.
