THE INITIAL line-up for the Halifax Comedy Festival 2017 has been announced.

Organisers promise an eclectic mix of comedians, music, children’s shows and theatre between October 20 and 28.

Perform as expected at the festival include multi-award winning comedian Sara Pascoe, who will be presenting two shows back-to-back to tell audiences all about her “year-long one-woman stag-do” in her ‘Ladsladslads’ show.

Kicking off the festival on October 20 will be the “Podfather” Richard Herring following a show about becoming 50.

Prankster comedian Lee Nelson will round off the festival on the closing night.

A spokesman said: “Lee’s recently been sneaking into places he shouldn’t, but now audiences can see him where he definitely should be - on stage.”

Sara, Richard and Lee will perform at the Victoria Theatre.

Audiences who are looking for something a bit different may enjoy The Six Wives of Henry VII, with two comedians attempting to recreate Tudor history with live original music, embroidery, Barbie dolls, silly songs and historical hysteria.

Cookery fans will also enjoy George Egg: DIY Chef, a show that combines live cooking and stand-up comedy in a way that’s never been seen before. Both shows are at the Square Chapel.

Children can enjoy Sooty when he visits the Victoria Theatre with a mix of magic, mayhem, music and guaranteed giggles.

Comedy Club 4 Kids at Square Chapel promises to offer the best comedians on the UK scene without the rude bits.
