A HISTORIC Sutton choir will perform a joint concert with Pendle Youth Choir on July 16.

KVU Singers, formerly Keighley Vocal Union, will take to the stage at Christ Church in Skipton at 2.30pm.

The mixed choir, who rehearse in Sutton, and the Colne-based Pendle choir will be performing in aid of Council Research.

KVU Singers, formed in 1906 as Keighley Vocal Union, sing both secular and sacred music and, give many concerts in the local area.

Their musical director, Frank Smith, is celebrating 35 years with the choir this year and recently gave up the same position with the Nelson Arion Male Voice Choir after conducting for 50 years.

Pendle Youth Choir, which evolved from the Nelson Municipal Children’s Choir, has singers aged from 11 to 18 years along with a Children’s Choir for ages six to 10.
