THE GRAND Theatre in Leeds is hosting the 10th anniversary tour of nostalgic musical Dreamboats And Petticoats.

The show, which features a host of classic songs from the late 1950s and early 1960s, is running until Saturday, July 15.

The musical was inspired by the multi-million selling albums and went on to be nominated for an Olivier Award.

Set in 1961, Dreamboats And Petticoats tells the story of young musicians Norman and Bobby who are competing to win a national song writing competition and, more importantly, the attention of the gorgeous Sue

But when Bobby discovers that shy Laura is no slouch on the piano, love and rock‘n’roll fame beckons.

The script was written by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, the writers of TV sitcoms Goodnight Sweetheart, Birds Of A Feather and The New Statesman, along with wartime-set comedy drama Shine On Harvey Moon.

Songs in the show come from the likes of Roy Orbison, The Shadows, Eddie Cochran and Billy fury.

They include Let’s Dance, To Know Him Is to Love Him, Bobby’s Girl, Little Town Flirt, Runaround Sue, Happy Birthday Sweet 16, Great Pretender, C’mon Everybody and Let’s Twist Again.

Coming up at Leeds Grand: Dirty Dancing (July 24-29); National Theatre drama Jane Eyre (July 31-August 5); musical The Wedding Singer (August 22-26).
