A TAXI driver has a big secret in the latest stage production from Skipton Players, the modern comedy classic Run For Your Wife.

John Smith has a loving wife named Mary in a flat in Wimbledon, and he has another loving wife named Barbara who lives in a different flat only four minutes away in Streatham.

When he heroically attempts to save an old woman from two muggers, he gets bashed on the head and receives attention, not just from the hospital, but from the police.

Two different detectives begin asking too many questions, John’s unemployed, moronic friend Stanley Gardner tries to help, and a neighbour, Bobby, who’s having painting problems upstairs, won’t stop calling.

All this, and John’s ‘wives’ are getting suspicious.

Run For Your Wife features a cast of Skipton Players regulars including several who also perform in plays at Sutton’s Green Hut Theatre Company.

These include Roxanne Williams, Vincent Rolfe, Philip Boocock, Dean Harness and Philip Smith.

Most of these actors are rehearsing throughout the summer for the Green Hut’s stage adaptation of TV sitcom Hi-De-Hi, to be staged at Sutton Village Hall on September 8 and 9.

Run For Your Wife will be staged from Tuesday to Saturday, August 1 to 5, at 7.30pm in Skipton Little Theatre, next to Tesco supermarket.
