THE KNITTING Witch has created new woollen versions of the four famous Brontë siblings.
The renowned Welsh knitter has this time modelled her Bronte figures on the actors who played them in last year’s TV drama To Walk Invisible.
The Witch, alias Denise Salway, this week tweeted pictures of her latest creations to acclaim from Brontë fans across the world.
Denise, from Wales, has achieved renown in the knitting world for her figures depicting many characters from films, TV and literature.
She came to prominence in 2013, after she began knitting dwarf characters from JRR Tolkien’s novel The Hobbit and was praised by actors playing the characters in the film trilogy.
Denise’s original Brontë-themed knits formed part of Charlotte Great And Small, a 2016 exhibition at the Brontë Parsonage Museum in Haworth celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charlotte Brontë.
Denise contributed a detailed re-creation in wool of a pivotal moment from Jane Eyre, including human figures and the four-poster bed.
Denise’s latest figures are based on actors Chloe Pirrie, Finn Atkins, Charlie Murphy and Adam Nagaitis, who played Emily, Charlotte, Anne and Branwell Brontë.
