THIS WEEK’S presentation of Cats in Bingley is believed to be the first amateur performance of the musical in West Yorkshire.

Bingley Amateurs are staging Andrew Lloyd Webber’s adaptation of TS Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats poems from Tuesday to Saturday, November 14 to 18, at Bingley Arts Centre.

Amateurs spokesman Jeff Peacock said: “This is a high energy dance show that sets a high standard of performance, with wonderful choreography to match Andrew Lloyd Webber’s well-loved music and songs.

“The show has been produced by Paul Nowland who brings his exciting innovative choreography to match the memorable music.”

Jeff described Paul as a taskmaster who had high praise for his “extremely talented” cast.

Paul has said: “I cannot praise them highly enough for what they have achieved; non-stop focus from the moment the overture begins until the rousing finale.”

The cast includes Elliot Broadfoot as Deuteronomy, Emma Fearnley as Bombalung, Lily Normington as Demetra and Olivia Hoddy as Etcetera.
