AWARD-WINNING Canadian blues rock guitarist and singer-songwriter JW Jones is to play Keighley.

JW will appear at Keighley Blues Live on Friday December 8 as part of an 18-date UK tour promoting his latest album High Temperature.

The musician, winner of the International Blues Challenge 2017, can be seen at the Octagon club on Bradford Road at Sandbeds.

High Temperature, produced by Nashville-based Colin Linden, recently won Best Self-Released CD at the 2017 International Blues Challenge and was named the ‘Hot Shot Debut’ on the Billboard Top 10.

The album was the follow-up to JW’s Juno Award nominated 2014 album Belmont Boulevard which held the number one position on Canadian roots radio stations for 13 weeks.

The latest album is said to take JW into new territory with warm, analogue tones, and a wide-range of material.

Linden said: “JW is ready to take his place among the greater blues-based musicians of the 21st century. It’s an absolute pleasure to have worked on the new album.”

Linden, an eight-time Juno and Grammy Award winner, is the musical director for the hit TV series Nashville and has produced albums for many iconic Canadian musicians including Bruce Cockburn and Colin James.

High Temperature features JW’s touring bassist Laura Greenberg, who has now been replaced in the band Will Laurin.

There is also an all-star cast of session musicians including bassist Dominic Davis (Jack White, Tom Jones, Beck), keyboard player Kevin McKendree (Brian Setzer, Delbert McClinton), and drummer Bryan Owings (Emmylou Harris, Robert Plant).

Liam Russell sings harmonies on several tracks, and JW welcomes his first recorded duet with number one hit songwriter Jaida Dreyer.
