THE ISLE of Wight Festival beckons for Keighley band As Sirens Fall.

The rising stars are calling on hometown fans to help them win a slot at the popular festival this summer.

The band, who specialise in epic alt rock, are urging music lovers to vote for them at hotvox.co.uk/artists/sirens.

As Sirens Fall are singer Mikey Lord, guitarists Adam Doveston and Richard Hadley, bass player Jason Doveston and drummer Jarlath McCaughery.

The band finished last year with a national tour that included a gig at Leeds’s Key Club – a regular venue for nationally-known bands – with support from fellow Keighley outfit, Your Illuminations.

The tour was accompanied by a music video featuring their latest single, featuring guest vocals from Skindred frontman Benji Webbe.

The video was premiered by Kerrang!, the leading magazine for heavy rock fans, which also conducted an extensive interview with As Sirens Fall frontman, Mikey Lord, about mental health, as part of their Young Minds season.

In My Mind was the first single to be taken from As Sirens Fall’s second EP, which is due to be released this spring.

A spokesman for As Sirens Fall said Take The Power Back was the band’s battle cry on their anthemic single, which set out to tell a story resonating many levels.

He said: “From the beginnings of the uprising against the establishment as shown in In My Mind’s creative music video, to the lyric inspiration of being a positive message against mental illness, depression and the struggles of everyday life, In My Mind is a song the band hope will help people when they need it most.

“In My Mind is given an extra power boost by the unmistakable vocal prowess of Skindred frontman Benji Webbe, who adds his rapid-fire delivery at several points throughout the track.”

Frontman Mikey Lord added: “We wanted to represent how hard it is for people to talk about mental health, and that people are often pushed into not acknowledging it at all.”

As Sirens Fall will play a gig next month to help two stalwarts of the West Yorkshire music scene launch a new venture in Leeds.

As Sirens Fall will help launch #360RAW by playing alongside Kill The Silence, Deadlock Saints and Stand Alone at the 360 Club in Leeds Library on February 23.

The venture – a regular night for upcoming bands – has been created Richard Watson, promoter of the 360 Club, and Alan Raw, presenter of BBC Introducing West Yorkshire .

There will be live performances, a DJ playing new music by local artists, a chance to grill Alan for advice, and a chance to hand over demos for BBC Introducing.
