THE SUTTON-based KVU Singers will launch their 2018 programme with a concert at Skipton Town Hall of March 11.

The 2.30pm concert will see the choir – formerly Keighley Vocal Union – joined by the 2nd Rossendale Scout Band and their director of music Graham Helm.

The KVU Singers’ performance will include a wide range of music, from sacred to secular and madrigals to modern, under the baton of energetic choirmaster Frank Smith.

The 2nd Rossendale Scout Band, based in Bacup, were formed in 1963 as a drum and trumpet band and seven years later became a fully-fledged brass band.

The band performs regularly across the North of England and in recent times have played with Black Dyke, Fodens, Grimethorpe Colliery, Brighouse and Rastrick bands.

Most recently, they performed with the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army.

The musicians have appeared at Windsor Castle for HM Queen Elizabeth and at prestigious venues like Bridgewater Hall, The Royal Northern College of Music, the O2 Arena and Cologne Cathedral.

Graham Helm has been With the band for more than 27 years and has been their Musical Director since 2000.
