HAWORTH performers are preparing to take their audiences to Venice this autumn in the classic Gilbert and Sullivan operetta The Gondoliers.

They are staying on dry land next month, however, to perform their popular spring concert in the village on May 4 and 5.

Members of Haworth West Lane Baptist Amateurs will perform The Sound Of Musicals at the church, nightly at 7.30pm and on the Saturday at 2.15pm.

There will be items and songs from a selection of shows including The Sound of Music, South Pacific, Man of La Mancha, The King and I, The Wizard of Oz, The Boyfriend, Camelot, Gigi and Carousel.

Spokesman Ian Dobson said: “Whilst our wonderful chorus will perform most of these, there will also be items from our talented soloists and also opportunities for the audience to join in with some of their favourite songs.”

Tickets cost from £6 to £8 for adults and £3 to £5 for children.
