Cullingworth theatre group CADS is to stage the second musical in his 40-year history.

The group will perform Rodgers and Hammerstein classic The King and I on February 23-26.

The show tells the true story of a governess who brings Western ways to Siam while caring for the King's children.

Songs include I Whistle a Happy Tune, Shall We Dance, Hello Young Lovers and Getting to Know You.

The King and I will be staged at the Village Hall in place of CADS' annual pantomime.

The show was originally planned for last autumn but the group decided it needed more time to prepare.

It will be preferred from the memory of Doreen senior who was treasurer and chief costume maker for about 30 years.

Craig Williams plays the king, Daniele Smith plays Anna, with Lisa Dyer, Lucy Judson, Tony Ackroyd, Max Williams and Richard Fairlie in other principal parts.

The choreography is by Laura Myers who also plays lead roles in the show's ballet and storytelling sequences.

Tickets cost £6.50 adults and £6.00 concessions, from Gift Tag Shop, Halifax Road, Cullingworth, from Tuesdays to Saturdays.
